Welcome to Sustainable Tiverton.

The Tiverton Area Communities Transition group started in 2008 in the village of Sampford Peverell. It is part of the Transition Network, whose role is to inspire, encourage, connect, support and train communities as they self-organise to become more sustainable in the face of climate change – rebuilding resilience and reducing CO2 emissions. Our local initiative quickly expanded to involve people in the neighbouring communities of Uffculme, Halberton, Holcombe Rogus, Uplowman, Hockworthy, Burlescombe, Huntsham and Clayhanger – and finally Tiverton.

Our focus is to raise awareness in our communities about the challenges arising from global warming and biodiversity loss, and encourage local initiatives to meet those challenges. Click here for further information about the Transition Network.

This year we are planning our first Tiverton Community Apple Day in the Pannier Market!
So we will have 2 events in October:

Tiverton Pannier Market               October 12th 10-3pm
Sampford Peverell Village Hall     October 26th 11-3pm

Both days will provide juicing for your own apples or community juice from unused orchards/trees. With refreshments, music and ‘apple-y’ activities.
It would be great to find more ‘unused’ apple trees in our area, if you know of any please get in touch so we can record them and arrange for picking.
And if you’d like to join in creating the juice (it’s fun!) or have a stall at the event please contact:

Do you have something that needs repairing?
A group of volunteers meet regularly to repair small items.
Free of charge, donations welcome to cover costs.
Our next repair session is on July 6th.
Contact us to make arrangements to drop off and collect your items.

Free advice and energy saving info is available at the monthly drop-in energy advice clinic run by Exeter Community Energy, at the CHAT hub, on the 2nd Tuesday of each month between 10 & 12. If you need help or advice about tariffs and switching, discounts, saving energy, grants for heating and insulation,or smart meter advice, then just drop-in, No appointment required. Remember to bring your bills.

Rerooted Community Fridge is now open

It’s in the library – come and have a look!

The banana pudding was yummy

I think what you do is amazing, well done to each and every one of you. A list of ingredients and how to cook the meal would be good.
